Behind the Scenes

Andreas Dresel

Trainee Technical Draftsman

Please describe your training at the Schaeffler Group.

Great importance is attached to the basic metalworking skills. I spent my first half-year of training in the workshop where I learned how to mill, drill, turn, file etc. From the second year of training, I worked six months each in several different departments in order to learn about the different aspects of the work of a draftsman, e.g. operating materials design, product design or special machine design. And there is also the vocational school, of course.

Why did you decide to go to Schaeffler?

Schaeffler is a large company with locations all over the world, and trainees who complete their training are usually offered a permanent job.

How would you describe the corporate culture in the Schaeffler Group?

As very exemplary since it is very diverse and, for example, generally prohibits child labor etc. and improves people’s lives and work at locations such as China.

What does the “Schaeffler feeling” mean to you?

Especially in the region around Herzogenaurach where Schaeffler has its origins and everybody knows the company, it means a lot to me to work for a company that has such advanced technology. I also feel very proud when I think of the size of the Group, which comprises not only this location but also many plants all over the world.

The Schaeffler Group’s motto is “Together we move the world”. How do you contribute to moving the world?

By working without making errors and being part of a well-functioning team that contributes to the company’s advancement – even in difficult situations like the economic crisis that is coming to an end now.
